GCSE Mathematics has a Foundation tier (grades 1 – 5) and a Higher tier (grades 4 – 9). Students must take three question papers at the same tier. A combination of calculator and non-calculator questions are used.

GCSE English Language will focus on reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills. Exams often assess grammar, creative reading and writing, viewpoints and perspectives, and exploring different writing styles. There is also a Non-Exam Assessment (NEA) element, where students will write and present a speech on a chosen topic.

The 3 Sciences include Biology, Chemistry and Physics. These are often taken as individual subjects but combined (triple) sciences is available in most exam boards.
